Commodore Jena had been representing the Telecom Operators & associated Industries, over a decade, at both Central and state government level on regulatory matters for formulation of Industry friendly policies and its smooth implementation. He has substantial contribution in development of Indian telecom ecosystem and also has to his credit formation of 16 Start-ups in PPP model.
He had been the main architect for creation of 08 Telecom Centres of Excellence (TCOE) in Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode for Industry led Innovation in IITs, IISc and IIM; and had managed these centres as its Director for over eight years. He was also the founding CEO of Telecom Sector Skill Council that works towards adequate availability of skilled manpower to boost growth of telecom sector. He was instrumental in formation of Telecom Standards Development Society, India to project Indian requirements and IPR in global bodies.
Dr Jena holds a Bachelor degree in Electrical Engg, three Master degrees — one each in Telecommunications, International Business and Defence Strategy — and a PhD from IIT Delhi on Smartphone Manufacturing Ecosystem. He had three decades of rich experience in Indian Defence in the field of R&D, Policy Making, Project Management and Indigenous Development of Electronics, Communication & Weapon Systems before stepping into the Telecom sector.
