This pilot project is a part of Digital Infrastructure Disruptive Solutions (DIDS) program with an objective to Increase the Farmer Yields and Incomes with the least use of capital. This project is being managed by JRS Disruptive Solutions (JRS) under the DIDS Program. The Agri-Lead and Integration Partner from among the star-ups operational in the agri-tech space. This program will also incorporate connected devices applications should the need arise.
The project would be rolled out in a district in India, either Maharashtra or Odisha. This will include most if not all farmers of the particular district and shall seek the support of panchayats and district level administrative authorities.
From the research, it was identified that if technology was involved in cultivation of a crop along with the advisory bodies to assist the farmers, it could lead to decrease of wasteful expenditures and better/increased yield. This could reduce the uncertainty of agricultural produce every year to a large extent. Technology could be used for monitoring the entire ecosystem of the farmland and decisions could be made in prior to avoid any losses in terms of capital or the crop. Emerging technologies and sensors along with 4G and upcoming use-cases of 5G could bring a new wave of hope to improve the primary sector of India and increase the GDP to stabilize and meet our economic demands. It could also increase employment and pave way for various MSMEs to participate in the project at a later stage.
The project is aimed to operate from pre-harvest to post harvest (seed selection, ground preparation, basic storage, crop cycle monitoring etc). All the technological data shall be managed through an Agricultural Information system that includes daily weather analysis, crop yield modelling, progressive satellite imagery, irrigation, pesticides usage, disease alerts, etc.
Applications identified will use ICT for Agriculture Information Solutions providing weather forecast and recommendations based on analysis of data collected from satellite images, field conditions, and farmer inputs. This application could enable the farmers to have a enhanced quantity and quality produce of crops with minimal wastages.
This program has a larger benefit in improving farmer’s life, and has significant contributions in Indian Economy, Education, Living standard and Technology. It is a high potential social initiative with a strong business case and global applicability.
